Day 1: Luxor

  • Karnak Temple

Start your day with a visit to Karnak Temple, the largest religious building ever constructed, dedicated primarily to the god Amun. It will take you through impressive halls, pylons, and the iconic Hypostyle Hall with its 134 massive columns. The site gives you an overview of ancient Egyptian architecture and religious practices.

  • Luxor Temple

head to Luxor Temple, a majestic structure located on the banks of the Nile River. This temple, dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship, was primarily built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II. Explore its stunning avenue of sphinxes and the beautiful inner sanctum, where many pharaohs were crowned.

Itinerary

Day 2: Luxor West Bank

  • Valley of the Kings

    • Take a morning excursion to the Valley of the Kings, where you’ll explore the tombs of ancient Egyptian pharaohs. The most famous tombs here are those of Tutankhamun, Ramesses II, and Seti I. The richly decorated tombs give you an incredible insight into the ancient burial practices.

  • Hatshepsut Temple

    • Visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most impressive architectural feats. It was built for the female pharaoh Hatshepsut and is located at the base of a cliff in Deir el-Bahari. The temple’s terraces and colonnades make for great photo opportunities.

  • Colossi of Memnon

    • End your day with a stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two giant statues that once stood guard at the entrance of Amenhotep III’s mortuary temple. These statues are especially impressive during sunset when the light casts a golden hue over them.

Day 3: Luxor to Aswan

  • Travel to Edfu

    • Begin the day early and travel to Edfu, a city located between Luxor and Aswan. It takes approximately 2 hours to reach Edfu, known for its well-preserved Edfu Temple (Temple of Horus). The temple is dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god, and is one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt.

  • Kom Ombo Temple

    • Continue your journey south to Kom Ombo, a unique double temple dedicated to both the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus. The temple’s location on the Nile offers great views, and its reliefs are well-preserved.

  • Arrive in Aswan

    • After visiting the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo, head south to Aswan. You will check into your hotel and have time to relax.

Day 4: Aswan

  • High Dam

    • Start your day with a visit to the Aswan High Dam, one of the most important engineering projects in the 20th century. The dam controls flooding, irrigation, and electricity generation for much of Egypt and has significantly changed the landscape of the Nile.

  • Philae Temple

    • End your trip with a visit to the beautiful Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Located on an island in Lake Nasser, the temple complex is known for its stunning architecture and scenic surroundings. You can take a boat ride to the island, adding to the charm of the visit.
